Inclined Drum Screens

Inclined Drum Screens: The Ultimate Solution for Efficient Wastewater Screening with HUBER ROTAMAT®

The HUBER ROTAMAT® range of inclined drum screens provides reliable and efficient solids separation for municipalities and councils. These versatile screens integrate multiple functions—screening, washing, compaction, and dewatering—into a single, space-saving unit.

With various models available, including the Ro1, Ro2, Ro3, and Ro9, along with several other configurations, the ROTAMAT inclined drum screens are designed to handle a wide range of flow rates and solids loads, making them suitable for STPs of any size.

Manufactured in Germany and constructed from high-quality stainless steel, each screen undergoes acid pickling treatment for enhanced durability and corrosion resistance. The innovative, self-cleaning design ensures consistent, low-maintenance operation. Whether installed directly in a channel or within a separate tank, the HUBER ROTAMAT inclined drum screens deliver a robust, efficient, and cost-effective solution for reliable solids separation in wastewater treatment plants.

Low Headloss with High Separation Efficiency
The 35° installation angle and optimised screen basket design provide a larger screening area compared to vertical or steeply inclined screens. This ensures minimal headloss, high separation efficiency, and maximum throughput.

Durable Stainless Steel Construction
Constructed entirely from high-quality stainless steel and treated in an acid pickling bath, the ROTAMAT® screens offer exceptional corrosion resistance and long-term durability.

Reliable, Self-Cleaning Operation
The fully engaged rake tines guarantee a thorough cleaning of the screen surface. The single-flow path design prevents screenings from entering the cleaned downstream flow, even with high pollution loads.

Multiple Functions in One Compact Unit
The ROTAMAT® screen combines screenings removal, transport, washing, dewatering, and compaction into a single, space-saving system. An optional bagging unit ensures fully enclosed, odour-free operation.

The HUBER Fine Screen ROTAMAT inclined drum screens can be installed directly in the channel or supplied as a tank-mounted unit, with a 35° inclination for optimal performance.

Wastewater enters through the open end of the inclined screen basket and passes through the screening surface, where floating and suspended solids are retained by the screen bars. As the surface becomes blinded with solids, an additional filtering effect is created, allowing smaller particles to be captured. When the water level difference upstream and downstream of the screen reaches a set threshold, the centrally mounted rake arm begins to rotate.

The rake’s tines, which extend fully through the screen bars, clean the basket by lifting the screenings to the 12 o’clock position. At this point, the screenings drop into the centrally positioned trough with an integrated screw conveyor. As the rake returns, a hinged comb scrapes off any remaining material, ensuring the tines are thoroughly cleaned for the next cycle.

The screw conveyor transports the screenings through the inclined pipe, where they are compressed, dewatered, and compacted. The screenings are then discharged—free of odour—into a designated container or a downstream conveying unit.

Thousands of HUBER ROTAMAT inclined drum screens are installed and operating in sewage treatment plants worldwide, with models including the Ro1, Ro2, RPPS, and STAR. The model selection depends on the specific application. The Ro1 and Ro2 are versatile fine screens that can be installed in a channel or as a tank-mounted unit. Variations of the Ro2 include the RPPS, which offers high-performance fine screening using perforated plate with exceptional solids capture rates. While the ROTAMAT STAR is designed for high-capacity applications with optimised screen geometry for maximum efficiency.

All models are constructed from stainless steel, feature a self-cleaning design, and include integrated screenings washing, dewatering, and compaction to ensure reliable, low-maintenance performance across varying flow conditions.
